I wanted my bracelet's style to be a contrast between simple yet complex. I accomplished this by having a straightforward center piece complemented by very eccentric links. I wanted a balance between not having so much going on yours eyes don't know where to settle and being so simple that you wouldn't care to look. I used my background knowledge of movement to create this balance by using my links to lead your eyes to my metal sheet. When first making my metal plan I decided I wanted to make most of bracelet out of a combination of links and wrapped wire instead of a chain mostly made up of jump rings which I has seen most of the other students doing. My metal plan evolved through-out my time working with metal and wire. The more comfortable I got with wire the more my bracelet's original plan changed. This is a pertinent lesson because some artists make their plan then won't ever stray from that it. I believe sometimes you should welcome change because you might actually like the end product more.

Fortune Seeker

For this project my goal was to use post-modern principles. I got inspiration for this piece from Meret Oppenheim's fur covered bowl. I used juxtaposition to make my audience question the meaning behind the piece. To make them more vividly think about the context and depth. I am an advocate believer that if you want to achieve your goals you can't just wait for opportunities to fall into your lap so I decided to take something that generally tells you what's going to happen in your life, fortune cookies, and turn them around by adding a subtle quote saying "Choose your own path." to show people that you shouldn't wait around for things to happen.

Evolution

Materials: Plant, CDs, phones, dirt, and tarp
Year: 2017 Class: 3D Mix-Media This project was my installation piece; it's a mixture of technology and nature. I used juxtaposition in order to have to contrasting ideas to form one new perspective. My two contrasting ideas were technology because it's "man-made" versus this plant which is "natural." Plus, since technology are so apparent in people's lives nowadays I believe it would allure the audience. I decided to use these to themes because when people generally think about about evolution they only think about natural evolution but everything evolves. The world is constantly changing around us. |
